Positively Philadelphia: Open Casting Call For Positive Philadelphians

By Lauren Lipton

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- So you always wanted to be a model but you're not a model?  Here's your chance!

"We're calling all proud Philadelphians to an open casting call," says Meryl Levitz, president and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corporation.

"When we do our videos and our ads, we like to use authentic Philadelphians, because nobody sells Philadelphia like Philadelphians themselves."

"You don't have to have modeling experience," Levitz (right) says.  "There is no fee.  You just have to bring your passion for Philadelphia."

But you do have to register.

"You (send an e-mail) to photos@gptmc.com, and you have to do it no later than May 15th."

GPTMC photographer Meredith Edlow says the best advice is, relax.

"We need people smiling, we need people laughing.  They don't have to come in any specific outfit, wear anything specific.  It's a lot of fun," she says.

The actual casting call is this Thursday, May 17th, from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the pavilion in Franklin Square.   And last year, one four-legged resident of Philadelphia made the cut.

"A Philadelphia dog, very authentic.  Had a lot to say about how the city's changed," Levitz recalls.  "We were impressed."

And that's "Positively Philadelphia!"
