PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Almost 200 customers were without power early Friday morning after a pickup truck crashed into a utility pole in Holmesburg.
The accident happened around 3:13 a.m., when the pickup hit the pole at Rhawn and Charles Street before slamming into a house. Rhawn Street and Frankford Avenue were shut down due to low-hanging wires and the broken pole.
PECO crews were working at the scene to assess the damage, and 166 were initially without power. Crews now report that only one customer remains without electricity.
The wires and pole will need to be replaced. There is no word on whether or not the driver of the truck was injured, but police say alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
