PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Another SEPTA bus driver is recovering after being violently attacked on the job.
The attack happened at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday on the Route 7 Bus at 16th and Cherry Streets in Center City.
According to investigators, a teenager punched the driver in the face and then bit him on the finger.
The unidentified teen was taken into custody by police as he attempted to exit the bus.
The teen is expected to face several charges.
Wednesday’s attack is the latest in a string of assaults against SEPTA bus drivers that are alarmingly on the rise.
SEPTA officials say assaults on drivers jumped from 18 in 2010 to 91 in 2011. So far this year, at least 23 drivers have been victimized.
