PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A website promises to make the process of finding a doctor and making appointments much easier.

The site is http://www.ZocDoc.com and it’s like a dating site but it hooks up potential patients with doctors.

“Sort by insurance plan, location, you can see doctor profiles including photos and patient reviews.”

Company spokeswoman Allison Braley says you can make appointments with any of the participating doctors of various specialties.

She says this fills a need among patients, many of them expressing frustration in the old-fashioned way of finding a doctor.

“And in fact, 63 percent feel that they’re at the mercy of their doctor or dentist’s front desk staff when they’re making that appointment.”

And she says 40 percent of appointments made through the site take place within a day.

“Consider that it takes three weeks on average for patients to get a doctor’s appointment and see the doctor in most major cities in the U.S.”
