Teen Killed Steps From Scene Of Colin Farrell Film 'Dead Man Down'

By Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The movie Dead Man Down has been filming in Center City for the past few days, but today the film, starring Colin Farrell, moves to the corner of Torresdale Avenue and Kinsey Street, just blocks away from where an 18-year-old was shot and killed Monday afternoon.

Police say the 18-year-old was shot multiple times as he walked out of a corner grocery at Tackawanna and Kinsey. He collapsed about a block away at Kinsey and Ditman and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Production Assistant Scott Faust was at the scene not long after the shooting and noted the irony of the shooting happening so close to the movie set.

"One of the officers was like, 'Your movie's called Dead Man Down, isn't it?' And I was like, 'yeah.' And he was like, 'oh …'"

Production assistant Sean Galczyk was at the set as investigators were working the crime scene.

"I'd say it's definitely really ironic to be a part of this (fictional film), and then to see it (in real life). It's weird."

The movie, though it's being filmed here in Philadelphia, is set in New York, and involves organized crime.

Police say the shooting has nothing to do with the filming of the movie, but it's a case of life unfortunately imitating art.

Police are questioning three people in connection with the shooting.
