PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – If you want to play ‘Call of Duty’ or ‘Halo’ but don’t have the $300 to put up for an Xbox 360, Microsoft might have the solution.
For $99, you get the four-gigabyte game console and the Kinect motion controller.
The catch is the deal includes a two-year subscription to XBOX Live Gold at $15 a month.
It’s the same idea behind wireless company contracts — they subsidize the cost of an expensive smartphone to get you in the door. Eventually, of course, you end up paying for the difference, and then some.
This XBOX deal will cost you a $40 premium over the suggested retail price after two years.
For now, the offer is only in Microsoft Store locations. The closest to us is the Bridgewater Commons Mall in Somerset County.
