Center City Bar Serving Beer That Pokes Fun At NHL Superstar

By Steve Beck

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – While Flyers' fans are feeling down right now, they can now drown their sorrows in a beer that pokes fun at one of their most-hated rivals.

The Nodding Head Brewery & Restaurant on Sansom Street in Center City is known for brewing up sports-themed beers.

Their latest creation is called "Crosby Tears," which is named after Pittsburgh Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby.

Workers at the restaurant say the beer is a strong ale that's wine-like, in honor of Crosby.

"It was a joke. We were joking around that we should make a beer called Crosby Tears and it would be wine-like. I had an empty tank one day and I was like 'I can make that, let's go,'" one employee told Eyewitness News.

Customers enjoyed the beer and the idea behind the creation.

"The beer is really, really nice. It has a really nice light citrusy taste to it, similar to the face when you bite into a lemon, how Crosby cries all the time," patron David Anglin said.

The beer has an orange hue, in honor of the flyers. It is expected to be on tap for the next couple of weeks.
