HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) – Crews in Mercer County rescued a man after he became trapped in a hole Saturday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called out to Baldpate Mountain Park off of Fiddler Road in Hopewell Township at about 1:30 p.m.
Authorities say 56-year-old Robert Goss, was digging for artifacts when he suddenly became trapped in the hole after a boulder shifted and fell on top of his leg, pinning him down.
It took emergency crews a few hours to free Goss who suffered injuries to his leg, but authorities say he was conscious throughout the entire rescue process. He was airlifted to an area hospital where he is in stable condition.
