PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police are investigating an auto-pedestrian accident in the city’s Mayfair neighborhood.

The accident happened at about 6:45 p.m. at Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard.

The unidentified woman, reportedly in her twenties, was crossing Roosevelt Boulevard, when a vehicle traveling northbound on the boulevard struck her. The victim suffered head trauma, a broken neck and a collapsed lung and was rushed to Aria Health Torresdale Campus in critical condition. Authorities say the vehicle involved remained at the scene.

Eastbound on Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard northbound are closed due to police activity.

There is no word at this time if the driver will be charged.
