PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – I think we all know that teens love to text and this is a key form of communication. But I recently came across an example of just how relevent texting happens to be.

I looked at a picture of a sports team at a celebration party. You know, a party where kids get together for team building. What I saw in the picture was about 80 percent of the kids looking at their phones texting. They were looking down and not at each other. I decided to take a random sample and look at other pictures in other situations and saw the same thing.

I bring this all up because of my concerns about texting and driving. Kids text a great deal. This is how they communicate and all it takes is a few seconds with eyes off the road to lead to an accident.

Talk to your kids about it.
