PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — New Jersey Governor Chris Christie as the number-two on the GOP ticket this fall? The Garden State governor’s not completely ruling it out.
Governor Christie makes it very clear he’s not campaigning to be Mitt Romney’s running mate on the GOP ticket, even poking fun at himself as he imagined sitting behind a President, smiling and clapping.
“Do I really look like the Vice Presidential type? Sitting behind him going (clap clap clap), I don’t think that’s me,” Christie said.
But when asked by high school students in Plainsboro, New Jersey, Christie wouldn’t rule it out completely.
“If Governor Romney called me and asked me to sit down and talk to him about it, I’d listen because I think you owe the nominee of your party that level of respect. And who knows what he’s going to say? He might be able to convince me, he’s a pretty convincing guy.”
That said, Christie’s said repeatedly he plans to finish out his term as governor, which ends in January 2014.
