PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Want to see some secret gardens? You can, this Sunday, May 6th.
Each year, the Garden Conservancy holds ‘Open Days’ at some of America’s best private gardens and this Sunday, from 10 to 4, you can visit six gardens around Swarthmore. While area arboretums are amazing, seeing what great gardeners do at home helps you imagine how you can incorporate their ideas and techniques at your place.
I love that you can tour these gardens at your own pace – you can pick one or two or a few of the gardens and pay $5 at each garden gate, or buy a discounted package to them all. (Click here for tickets.)
Join the Garden Conservancy as a member to get half-price tickets, plus their guidebook to Open Days across America so you can travel to other fabulous gardens all year. The Swarthmore Historical Society has also been beautifying public spaces around town, and you’ll find maps to those pretty places at all the private gardens.
For this garden tour, you don’t need to make plans or reservations – you can just get up on Sunday morning and decide to go for a ride. Get details, directions and descriptions for the Open Days gardens in Swarthmore at GardenConservancy.org.
