HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) – A driver has been arrested after police say he left the scene after fatally striking a pedestrian in Mercer County late Thursday evening.
The incident happened at about 11:10 p.m. on Nottingham Way near N. Johnston Avenue in Hamilton Township, New Jersey.
According to investigators, 37-year-old Erix R. Yuman was driving a pick-up while the victim, 29-year-old Isaiah J. Harris, was attempting to enter his parked vehicle.
As the truck was passing Harris, the passenger side mirror struck him in the head.
Investigators say Yuman drove away from the scene.
Harris was transported to Capital Health System-Fuld Campus, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say they found Yuman’s truck parked in front of his residence and he was placed under arrest.
Yuman has been charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Death. His bail has been set at $150,000.
The deadly hit and run remains under police investigation.
