Philly Soccer Show: Union, Going Strong, Regroups For San Jose

By Greg Orlandini

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There's no rest for the Philadelphia Union as the top team in the west, the San Jose Earthquakes, come to town this Saturday.  And the KYW Philly Soccer Show previews it.

In Part 1, KYW's Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer  Eli Pearlman-Storch sit down with 'Quakes coach Frank Yallop.

San Jose is kind of the opposite of the Union right now, getting it done with a high-flying offense, led by forward Chris Wondolowski.

The Union will be without fullback Gabriel Farfan and midfielder Keon Daniel as well as manager Peter Nowak, all suspended after the raucous second half against Chivas USA last week.

Daniel and Farfan both were given red cards, and Nowak was ejected after stepping on the field during the melée late in the game.

In Part 2, we look at the Chivas game.   The Union picked up the win on the left coast and are undefeated in three games (2-0-1), registering three straight shutouts for the first time in team history.

That streak will be tested against the Quakes and their potent offense.   Wondolowkski is tied for the league lead in goals, with eight.

The Union so far this year are struggling for offense, with only four goals total all year, and are dead last with only 53 shots.
