PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts has a new permanent exhibit: “Ocean without a Shore” by world renowned video artist Bill Viola.

“It’s a work that has never been shown in the United States. Primarily the notion of the work is ideas of coming into life and leaving life.”
Curator of Contemporary Art Julian Robson describes what you view on three television screens in a dark room.
“And what you see are actually 24 characters, individual people, who seem to come out of a dark distance, one at a time on each screen. They hit this wall of water that’s completely invisible to you. And as they hit this wall of water, they start to walk through it, they burst into full color.”
