What do Raven’s Claw, River Winds and Vineyard Golf at Renault have in common? Their architect is Ed Shearon, a local guy who does nice work.
I haven’t played Raven’s Claw enough to really form an opinion, but I am a big fan of those other two designs. River Winds has some really strong golf holes, especially those play in the prevailing winds, which are usually a factor at this riverside layout.
I also think Vineyard Golf is one of the more underrated courses in the region. It has a really nice mix of holes and opens with a wake-up call — a long par 4 with a tee shot that challenges you, then an approach to an elevated green protected by deep bunkers. The fun factor is high there, including your tee shot over the vineyard on the par 4 6th.
