Goodbye Firm Fairways

Just when we were starting to have fun hitting the ball farther than we have in years (thanks to big bounces and rollout), it rains on our parade.  Hate when that happens!   Hopefully, the dry weather gave many of those who wield power at clubs a taste of how much fun firm-and-fast can be ... and we'll see a little less over-watering in the future.  Dream on.

Ball Go Straight

Many aren't worried about a loss of distance.  They just buy some back in the form of a special golf ball.  Bill Pennington's NY Times Golf Blog chronicles the success of the non-confirming Polara ball.   It reduces hooks and slices, so it goes farther and stays in play.  Pennington reports they've registered close to $3 million in sales over the last year, so somebody's buyin 'em.  Don't look at me!  But if it brings new golfers to the game or allows people to enjoy it more, I am all for that.   Where do you stand on "illegal" equipment?

Today's Deal

These putters are perfectly conforming and they had been very highly regarded until the company was purchased in a bankruptcy auction last year by Adams Golf.  You can buy some discontinued models of Yes! Putters for just $49.99 new.   Click here to see details of that deal.
