PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — It’ll be a busy concert season this year at Citizens Bank Park. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. for “The Boss.”
Not only is Roger Waters performing “The Wall” at Citizens Bank Park in July, but Bruce Springsteen will play two shows on Labor Day weekend. Phillies president David Montgomery says the Phillies do get a share of the concert revenue.
“When we host, we do. We don’t do nearly as well as the act, and we share with whoever the promoter may be. But the reality is, yes. To the extent that we can add revenue in this area, it gives us the wherewithal to do more with our club,” Montgomery explains.
Montgomery also says the Phils put in all-new turf after hosting the NHL’s Winter Classic in January. He says they expect the new, more durable Riviera Bermuda grass to hold up through the baseball season and the concerts.
