Toxicology Reports Negative For Drivers In Fatal Chesterfield School Bus Crash

CHESTERFIELD, N.J. (CBS) -- The Burlington County Prosecutor's office announced Friday that blood tests performed on the drivers involved in a fatal collision between a dump truck and a school bus in Chesterfield, NJ two-months ago have shown that drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
The Prosecutor's office and the Chesterfield Township Police department say laboratory analysis of blood samples taken from 38-year old truck driver Michael Caporale and 66-year old bus driver John Tieman show no traces of alcohol or illegal drugs.
However, officials say, Tieman's results did indicate that he was on prescription medications, but that the levels would not have impaired his ability to operate the bus at the time of the crash, which crash claimed the life of 11-year old Isabelle Tezsla, and sent 17-other students to area hospitals.
The investigation is continuing and the Prosecutor's office will not make a final decision on whether criminal charges will be filed until the National Transportation Safety Board issues its final report.
