By Al Novack, Dray Clark

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police say an off-duty officer was beaten and hospitalized after trying to break-up a fight outside Benny The Bum's in Northeast Philadelphia Friday morning.

Two suspects were arrested on Welsh Road a short time later. The officer was treated for minor injuries.

It was one of three separate assault incidents that occurred at bars around closing time. Two of the incidents involved Philadelphia police officers, who were treated for minor injuries.

The second incident occurred around 2 a.m. in Southwest Philadelphia outside Lidd's Lounge in the 6200 block of Woodland Avenue. One suspect was taken into custody after three cops, who were trying to break-up a fight, were assaulted. All the officers were treated for minor injuries.

Police in Olney have no suspects in a shooting outside Bananas Bar in the 5500 block of Rising Sun Avenue.

Detectives say four people, including three men and a woman, suffered gunshot wounds when a man got upset over remarks made to or about his female friend. The gunmen fired numerous shots and fled the area.
