Fire Prompts Evacuations At Delaware Private School

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – There are no reports of any injuries after a fire broke out inside a private school in Delaware Tuesday afternoon.

The three-alarm fire started at about 12:30 p.m. inside the auditorium at the Wilmington Friends Upper School on School Road in Wilmington.

According to school officials, all middle and upper school students at the school have been accounted for and were evacuated to a track/lacrosse field near the school. Parents responding to the school to pick up their children were advised to meet them in the parking lot of Papastravos Associates, which is located at 1701 Augustine Cut-Off.

Chopper 3 HD was over the scene where it showed sections of the roof burned in and the auditorium sustained significant damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office
