Chester County Police Arrest Law Enforcement Impersonator

TREDYFFRIN TWP., Pa. (CBS) – Police in Chester County arrested a man for impersonating a Federal investigator.

According to police,  Eric Bell, Jr., a.k.a. Eric Marquest Devlin-Bell of the 1800 block of Olive St. in Coatesville, was arrested and charged with impersonating a public servant, false imprisonment, and other associated offenses.

The charges  stem from a call received by Tredyffrin Police about an erratic driver headed northbound on Rt. 202 on April 9th. Police say a man who identified himself as Bell reportedly stopped a car and identified himself as an "off duty" Federal investigator.

Authorities say they received information about Bell who was allegedly driving a dark blue Crown Victoria Police Interceptor.

On April 12, police made contact with Bell on the side of the road and according to authorities, Bell confirmed he was not a certified law enforcement officer or firefighter.

Police search his vehicle and found it was equipped with clear-white and blue emergency lights, a loaded firearm, and other police style equipment.

Bell now faces a preliminary hearing.
