Atlantic County School Bus Driver Charged With Sexually Assaulting Child

HAMMONTON, N.J. (CBS) - A school bus driver was arrested Thursday morning after he allegedly sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl, according to authorities in Atlantic County.

On April 10, police say 58-year-old Hugo Sandoval, who is employed by Student Transportation of America, a company contracted by Folsom Elementary School District, was finishing his bus route with one stop remaining, when he pulled over the bus on Eighth Street in Hammonton.

According to police, there were two children on the bus at that time, the alleged victim and her 5-year-old brother. Sandoval reportedly asked the boy to go to the rear of the bus and then sexually assaulted the girl who was seated up front.

The little girl reported the incident to her mother who in turn contacted the Hammonton Police Department.

Following an investigation, police arrested Sandoval at his apartment on 12th Street in Hammonton.

He is charged with first degree aggravated sexual assault, second degree sexual assault and third degree endangering the welfare of a child.
