2 Firefighters, 1 Resident Injured In Reading Apartment Fire

READING, Pa. (CBS) – Two firefighters and a resident were injured in an apartment complex fire in Berks County early Wednesday morning.

The fire started at about 3:30 a.m. inside a four-story apartment complex on N. 9th Street and Walnut Street in Reading.

According to fire officials, the fire reached three alarms before being placed under control at about 7:30 a.m.

Fire officials say two firefighters and a resident were injured in the fire and were taken to The Reading Hospital. The extent of their injuries were not immediately known.

Eleven apartments were damaged and eight families were affected by the fire. The Red Cross is assisting those residents who were displaced.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
