PHILADELPHIA (CBS) –The internationally renowned Philadelphia Dance Company will bring it home to the Kimmel Center with their latest program, “The Philadelphia Connection.”
“A lot of people say they’ve seen Philadanco, and I always say, ‘If you haven’t seen us lately…’” says Founder and Music Director Joan Myers Brown.
She also says this year’s program includes new dancers, new music and new work. Like, “Tribute,” a full company piece celebrating the sounds of Philadelphia International Records, and “Wake,” a new dance by choreographer Rennie Harris that incorporates hip-hop. But she says the goodies will still be there:
“Of course, we had to dig out something old that the people really like, Ron Brown’s ‘Gatekeepers.’ Ron Brown just choreographed ‘Porgie and Bess’ on Broadway.”
“The Philadelphia Connection” runs from April 20th through the 22nd. For more info, go to www.kimmelcenter.org.
