$10K Reward Offered In Center City Brick Attack

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A $10,000 reward is being offered for information in the case of a Center City parking lot attendant who was violently attacked with a brick and robbed Wednesday evening.

The victim, identified by police as 30-year-old Asrat Mulugeta, is in critical condition.

According to police, Mulugeta was working at the E-Z Park Parking Lot in the 1300 block of Locust Street when he attacked at about 7:45 p.m.

"He was struck in the face and the head several times with a brick … he received some serious injuries to his head and face," Chief Inspector Scott Small explained.

Police say Mulugeta was rushed to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses describe a black male in his 30's with dreadlocks going through the victim's pockets. His accomplice, a thin, black female wearing a green dress was seen going through the attendant's booth. Police are also searching for a third suspect, a female.

Police believe the suspects made off with approximately $200.

Witnesses told police the suspects fled the scene in an Old City taxi cab.

Police recovered the brick at the scene and are currently reviewing surveillance video in the area.

The Citizens Crime Commission is administering $10,000 reward, posted by E Z PARKING Inc., for any information that would lead to an arrest and conviction of the suspects. Anyone with information is urged to call the Crime Commission Tipline at 215-546-TIPS.
