Syracuse's Dion Waiters To Declare For NBA Draft

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Sophomore guard Dion Waiters of Syracuse is entering the NBA draft.

Waiters says he plans on signing with an agent and calls his two years at Syracuse an "amazing experience."

Waiters was the second-leading scorer on the Orange, averaging 12.6 points per game despite never starting once during a record-breaking season. Syracuse was ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 since New Year's Day and made it to the round of eight in the NCAA tournament before losing to Ohio State on Saturday night.

The Orange finished 34-3, with school records for wins in the regular season with 30 as well as the full-season mark, and Waiters was a big reason why. He excelled after a trouble-filled freshman season that nearly led to his departure from the program.
