Competition Still Open To Rename Arthur Ashe Tennis Center In East Falls

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education Center in East Falls will be changing its name this summer.

Jeff Jubelirer, board member of the Arthur Ashe Youth and Tennis and Education center, says the decision to change the name was made by Arthur Ashe's widow, and now the Center is asking for the public's help coming up with a new name.

"We were hopeful that our license would be extended but Arthur Ashe, Incorporated decided that they would not renew the license. So we decided that we would make it an inclusive process before deciding what our new name would be."

Jubelirer says folks have until Monday to submit a suggestion through the website.

"We've gotten about 30 names so far that have been submitted and we're hoping to get a lot more."

The facility will assume a new name in June.
