2 Injured In Ambulance, Car Crash In Center City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A collision between a car and an ambulance created a traffic nightmare in Center City early Friday morning.

The accident happened at about 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Broad and Callowhill Streets.

Authorities say a car struck the ambulance, causing the ambulance to flip over on its side. The ambulance, medic 50B, was responding to a call at the time of the crash.

Two Philadelphia Fire Department paramedics were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital for treatment. The paramedics' injuries did not initially appear to be serious.

There were no patients inside the ambulance at the time of the accident.

No one inside the striking car was seriously injured.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
