Man Dies After Being Shot, Run Over During Music Video Filming In Olney

By Elizabeth Hur, Tim Jimenez and Al Novack

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place during the filming of an amateur rap music video.

According to police, a crowd of about 100 people witnessed the shooting that took place on Tabor Road near 5th Street in the Olney neighborhood just after 7 p.m. Thursday.

The victim was a 33-year-old man.

Chief Inspector Scott Small explained, "After collapsing from being shot, he was run over by a vehicle. He has a gunshot wound to his head and when he was run over by the vehicle, it also crushed his chest."

He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

"The vehicle that ran him over was just trying to get out of the area during all the confusion and the gunshots," Small said.

Police say the driver stopped about a block away and investigators later determined the driver did not run over the victim intentionally.

"Police stopped three suspects all armed with handguns, one of them was identified by a witness who identified him as the actual shooter," Small added.

Charges have not yet been filed.

There's no word on a motive. It's not clear if the victim was targeted, or whether he was part of the filming. Police say they have surveillance video of the shooting and several eyewitnesses, some of whom are police officers.

This incident remains under police investigation.
