My co-workers know me as Jessica McWilliams, and my family and friends know me as Jessica Lawless. But my son, well, he knows me as Mom, Mamakins and Honey.
Yes–my adorable toddler, Colin, calls me Honey. He picked it up when he was one and overheard my husband, Brian, tell me “thanks, Honey” for something, and that was it – I became his “Honey,” too.
For me (like all moms), the sun rises and sets around my family. During the hours in between, I manage a delicate balancing act that any mother will tell you is not easy. But with a little help from family and friends, we can do it and do it well. I am fortunate enough to have learned from the best, my mom and grandmom. One had a career outside the home while raising three children and the other had a full-time job at home raising four, and they inspired me to be who I am today.
When I’m not at home being a mommy, I’m overseeing content production on the CBS Philadelphia websites. While my role at work is quite demanding, it’s not nearly as demanding as my mommy role.
So, whether your career has you leaving your house daily or you’ve made a career out of staying home with your kids is no matter. Both roles are challenging and require a special kind of woman to play them.
In this blog, you’ll be introduced to just a few of these moms (myself included). We’re hoping you’ll enjoy our stories, find humor in the posts and even share your experiences … It’s the little things in life that can put a smile on just about anyone’s face, and every day my son does just that – I hope he makes you smile, too.
