PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading up to the arrest of the person(s) involved in the recent tire slashings in Tacony, a neighborhood close to Mayfair which has been targeted by vandals in recent months.
Tires were slashed on three vehicles parked along the 7100 block of Erdrick Street early Sunday morning, according to Philadelphia police.
In earlier weeks, in nearby Mayfair, one resident’s car had all four of its tires taken off and stolen. In early February, vandals slashed tires and spray painted graffiti on dozens of cars throughout the neighborhood.
Last month, more than 30 car owners in Mayfair reported to police they found their tires slashed, two dozen others found graffiti spray painted on their cars.
Residents have since been working with police to identify the culprits. Earlier this week, the city and Philadelphia police offered a $7,500 reward for information leading to the vandals. At this time, no suspects have been named.
Despite its close proximity to Mayfair, police say they have no reason to believe Sunday’s incident in Tacony is related to the previous vandalism.
Information regarding this case can be reported to the Crime Commission Tipline at 215-546-TIPS.
