South Jersey Cooks' Culinary Creation Sets World Record
WILDWOOD, N.J. (AP) — Some southern New Jersey cooks have won a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, thanks to their massive culinary creation.
Organizers of the inaugural Wildwood St. Patrick's Day Block Party set the mark Saturday for the largest meat and potato pie, creating a 1,805-pound dish.
The event raised funds for a local nonprofit group that helps stages after-prom events at Wildwood High School.
The Press of Atlantic City (http://bit.ly/zMaTyJ) reports portions of the pie were cooked in several restaurants' kitchens over the course of several hours. Eventually, a Guinness official on hand to certify the record determined it was edible.
Organizers initially sought to set the record for the largest shepherd's pie. But the official rejected that because they used beef, and shepherd's pie is made of lamb.
