PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — No question, Tony Braithwaite and Jennifer Childs are two of the most creative personalities in Philadelphia, especially in comedy and music.
Their latest production, “Let’s Pretend We’re Famous,” may not be their most original effort. But as brief as it is, it is impressive.
Childs — actress, playwright, director, and co-founder of the famous 1812 Productions — is pint-sized in many respects except talent, in which she’s a giant.
Her partner, Tony Braithwaite, the all-round song and dance man, has been called “Philadelphia’s funniest man ever.” He’s a comedy superstar, quick-witted and beloved by audiences.
While they’ve been successful in a number of comedy productions, their most recent production, “Let’s Pretend We’re Famous,” is creative in the pursuit of the familiar. Braithwaite is certainly, once again, a physical and verbal giant.
The current display runs through March 25th, prior to a brief but ambitious stint of political satire: “This Is The Week That Is: The Election Special,” in which President Obama will be put to the test against his yet-to-be-determined opponent.
Opening night of that project: October 3rd. Mark it on your calendar!
