PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - To reduce the chance of many types of canine illnesses, remember prevention is the best cure. One way to prevent certain illnesses and health problems is to simply keep a step ahead when it comes to sanitation and a clean, healthy environment.
Always thoroughly clean your dog’s food and water bowls, as well as eating areas daily. Damp environments greatly promote the growth of fungus and mold, which can cause sickness. Replace anything displaying signs of deterioration such as rust, mold or signs of wear. Wash your dog’s bedding on a regular basis too. Vacuum regularly to avoid dust as this can cause severe skin, allergy and respiratory health problems.
There are many types of internal parasites spread through contamination of feces. Reduce this problem by keeping yards and runs clear to reduce your dog’s exposure to parasites ticks and worms.
