Food Themed Event Inspired By Flower Show At Smoking Bettys

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – City Food Tours hosts their fourth annual Philadelphia Flower Show inspired food event next week.

Eric Matzke with City Food Tours says there's a big connection between food and flowers.

"A lot of our major foods that are seen as commodities -- chocolate, coffee, tea -- they're all plants that have flowers."

And taking into consideration the theme of the Flower Show, there's also a connection between Hawaii and American chocolate:

"Hawaii is the only state in the US that can grow chocolate," adds Matzke.

On March 5th, 7th and 10th, Matzke will be holding an afternoon tasting at Smoking Betty's called Hawaiian Flavors of the Flower Show, that incorporate the tastes of chocolate, tea and fish.

"The fish is called Mahi Mahi, it actually translates as strong in Hawaii. It's really one of the jackpot fish for deep sea fishing."
