PHILADELPHIA (CBS) –The Pennsylvania Ballet Company performs Handel’s Messiah from March 8th through the 17th.
Artistic Director Roy Kaiser says the show is a familiar work brought to life.
“I mean, everybody knows the music, you hear it everywhere,” he says.
The ballet traces the story of Jesus, broken down into 50 scenes.
“A score like this is so emotional and, at times, so powerful, that when that’s reflected on the stage, it just makes for a very memorable performance.”
This is the second time the PA Ballet has staged the show, which was created by the company’s former artist director, Robert Weiss.
But if you saw it the first time, expect something new, Kaiser says:
“Every performance is different.”
