Mild Winter Means Happy, Busy Construction Workers

By Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The mild winter continues with temperatures expected in the 60s the next few days. That's music to some people's ears.

Might be bad news for snow plow drivers, but this winter's been great for some construction companies and contractors.

Wayne Kucinski with Straight Line Builders says they've been able to do jobs they'd typically have to put off til spring.

"Our outdoor work, framing outside, roofing, and everything, brick work, concrete work would be put off, now we can do it, we're moving right along."

Mike Weaver with Patriot Roofing says this mild winter has been a sort of stimulus package for them.

"Oh yeah, we stayed busy all year-long because of the weather, last year we laid a bunch of guys off, but this year we're doing good, so it's helping."

He says as someone who works outside regardless of the weather, temperatures in the 60s in February are definitely welcome.
