School Bus Involved In Cumberland County Crash

UPPER DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) – New Jersey State Police are investigating a four-vehicle crash that involved a school bus in Cumberland County early Tuesday morning.

The accident happened shortly after 7 a.m. at Irving Avenue and Woodruff Road in Upper Deerfield Township.

New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Steven Jones says a school bus was stopped along Irving Avenue near S. Woodruff Road to pick up students when the driver of a small box truck ran into two cars and the bus.

There were seven Upper Deerfield Elementary School students aboard the bus at the time of the crash. Sgt. Jones says none of the students were injured, but all were transported to Vineland Regional Hospital to be checked out.

Two drivers were also taken to Vineland Regional Hospital after complaining of aches and pains.

A third driver was flown to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.

At the time of the crash, the bus was transporting students to the Upper Deerfield Elementary School.

The crash remains under police investigation.
