PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Do you enjoy getting a good deal? Well February is about a lot more than just candy and flowers, it means plenty of shopping deals too! So 3 On Your Side Consumer Reporter Jim Donovan went in search of the four best things to buy in February.
Whether it is a final close out, something on clearance, or maybe an item that's 80 percent off, the shopping experts at dealnews.com really know the best times to buy! Features Director Lindsay Sakraida says, "We take a look at all of the deals that we've listed in the past several years, up to 3 years, and see what trends we can discern from that, when certain categories hit their all time lows."
According to Sakraida, February is the time to keep your eyes open for outerwear sales. She says, "Because this year has been such a mild winter a lot of retailers have been stuck with an excess of coats, parkas, and so they're really pushing to get rid of all this extra stock. So you get amazing deals already, then coupled with the Presidents' Day sales, extra discounts."
You may be able to snag an amazing deal on furniture too. Sakraida says, "Around this time of year furniture manufacturers are releasing their new models for the year and so you know furniture is a very bulky item, it is particularly difficult for stores to keep old stock in their stores, so they really want to get rid of last year's inventory."
When it comes to electronics, Sakraida says, "It's actually one of the best times of year aside from Black Friday to be shopping for electronics. Things like GPS units, audio equipment like stereo systems, a lot of big name HD TV's, you're going to see a lot of really great deals on those items.
Also, with the introduction of the iPad 3 expected soon, you may want to watch the prices closely on the iPad 2. According to Sakraida, "Target, Best Buy, Amazon are going to start taking significant cuts on their stock because they know people are going to want the iPad 3. So as we get closer to that release you are going to see some really excellent deals on the iPad 2.
