PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - We’ve been treated to an unseasonably mild winter — it’s been a bummer for skiers and kids hoping for snow days, but a benefit for home improvement companies.
What a difference a year makes.
“We’re getting a lot of calls.”
Not the case last winter at Global Home Improvement in Feasterville says Adam Parnes, the company’s marketing manager.
“Much better compared to last year, with all the snow.”
He says their sales last month doubled from January 2011 — when Philadelphia was shoveling out from one of the snowiest months on record.
“Timing and planning is a big part of our business, and that’s where the nice weather helps.”
So for homeowners thinking about roof repairs, maybe new siding, Parnes says it’s a good idea to plan now with your chosen contractor, just in case the groundhog turns out to be right.
