Delaware Woman Arrested For Alleged Murder-For-Hire Plot

By Todd Quinones

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – A Delaware woman is under arrest after, police say, she hired a hit man to kill her ex-boyfriend.

The Investigation paints a picture of a woman so desperate to kill the father of her child; she pawned jewelry to come up with the money to hire a hit man.

Court records indicate 37-year-old Heather Rybicki thought she had hired a hit man to kill her ex-boyfriend, but what she didn't know was the alleged triggerman went to police after having an apparent change of heart.

No one answered at the Wilmington home on Saint James Church Road where police contend Rybicki lives.

Wilmington police allege a 'hit-man' came to them claiming he was hired by Rybicki and when an officer listened in during a phone conversation between them, the detective states "He (the 'hit man') then asked Rybicki if she still wanted him to kill the father of her son, she stated 'yes'."

Court records indicate it was outside a dialysis center in Wilmington, where an employee says Rybicki worked as a nurse, that Rybicki left $500 dollars inside an envelope under her floor mat for the hit man.

The hit man later told police he took the money from Rybicki's Nissan Rogue.

Police allege Rybicki was having an ongoing custody dispute with her ex-boyfriend over their child.

The 37-year-old was arrested earlier this month.

Wilmington police, right now, are not releasing additional details because they say they don't want to compromise their investigation.

Messages to Rybicki's lawyer haven not been returned.
