SEPTA Renames Heavily-Used Bus Route

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The only thing that is changing is its name. A popular SEPTA bus route with two distinct patterns will go from a single letter designator to two separate numbered routes.

As of February 19th the "C" bus will be replaced by the #4 and #16 routes.

Current route "C" buses operate in two different route patterns.

One service runs between the Fern Rock Transportation Center in North Philadelphia and AT&T Station in South Philadelphia, which SEPTA will change to the #4.

Number 16 buses will operate on the other route between the Cheltenham and Ogontz bus loop and City Hall.

Joseph from Mount Airy, waiting for the "C" bus on North Broad Street, thinks the change is a good thing.

"Well, some people get confused with the destination of the bus. And, with the change of the numbers, there will be no confusion."

SEPTA says the renaming is to enhance communications with customers and to improve service.
