Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention Opens at Convention Center

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The 14th annual Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention is taking place today through Sunday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

More than 600 tattoo artists from around the world are participating in the country's largest tattoo arts convention.  There's local talent represented, too, like Cay and Ash from "Vicious Ink Philly," in Kensington.

"We specialize in the old type of tattooing, body piercing, and dermal anchoring," says Cay.

Ash sports a variety of body art including yellow contact lenses and elongated canine teeth.

What happens when she get a little older?

"We are going to stay rocking out -- our same style, you know, being old and having the same personalities that bring us out," she tells KYW Newsradio.

"And our grandkids are going to have the coolest grandparents ever!" adds Cay with a laugh.

There will be live bands and TV stars from the shows "LA Ink," "NY Ink," and Spike TV's "Permanent Mark."

Tickets are $20 per day, or $40 for the three days.
