Armed Suspects Sought In Robbery Of Bryn Mawr Wawa

By Steve Beck, Al Novack and Jericka Duncan

BRYN MAWR, Pa. (CBS) – Police in Montgomery County are searching for two gunmen who robbed a convenience store late Thursday night.

The robbery happened at about 11 p.m. at the Wawa on Bryn Mawr Avenue in Bryn Mawr and the entire ordeal was captured on surveillance that police released on Friday.

According to investigators, two suspects entered the store and demanded cash.

The Wawa employees had a hard time opening the safe. The impatient armed robber fired one shot at the ground, causing the bullet to fragment into little pieces.

Radnor Township Police Superintendent William Colarulo said part of that projectile went into the employees eye.

The suspects also pointed a gun at the store's manager and then took an undisclosed amount of money from a safe.

The suspects then ran out of the store and fled the scene in a gold car believed to be a Ford Taurus with a temporary license plate.

The injured employee was treated at a local hospital and is expected to be fine.

Police say this recent armed robbery is scary for many reasons.

"If someone is going to get angry enough about not getting enough cash and firing a gun into the ground, then I don't think he has any regard for human life," said Colarulo.

Authorities believe one of the men involved in Thursday's robbery is the same man who robbed a Wawa in Landsowne Borough. Police say, on Saturday January 28th at around 2 in the afternoon, an armed man walked into the store, demanded cash from the register and the safe before getting away.

Wawa released a statement saying the safety and security of our employees and customers is of utmost importance. Wawa is offering a $2,500 reward through the citizens Crime Commission.

The first suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6'-6'2" tall with a black goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue colored Old Navy sweatshirt (with the words OLD NAVY across the chest), blue jeans, a tan and black "Philadelphia Soul" baseball hat and black shoes. He was carrying a black colored handgun.

The second suspect is described as a black male, 6' tall with a black beard and mustache. He was last seen wearing a black colored sweatshirt with "EVERLAST" in white letters across the chest. He was also wearing blue jeans, black shoes and a white colored baseball hat with a round sticker under the brim.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Radnor Police Department at (610) 688-0503.
