Philadelphia Police Investigating Alleged Abduction, Sexual Assault Of 6-Year-Old Girl

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia Police are investigating the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl in Kensington Thursday night, according to authorities.

According to Philadelphia police, at about 2 p.m., the little girl went to a local supermarket and when she did not return home until an hour later, police said she told her mother she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted at another location by a man she did not know. Police say the alleged assault happened in the vicinity of 3400 E Street.

Police were contacted and the girl and her mother were taken to the Special Victims Unit.

The suspect, pictured below, is described as a black male with a star tattoo under his eye. He was wearing a green or brown jacket, white T-shirt and blue jeans.

The case remains under investigation.
