Ann Weaver Hart Leaving Temple, Possibly Headed To Arizona

By Dan Wing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Temple University President Ann Weaver Hart could be heading west. The Arizona Board of Regents named Dr. Hart as candidate to be the next President of the University of Arizona.

Currently Dr. Hart is the only candidate named for the position. She's scheduled to visit the University of Arizona on Monday, February 13th, before any final decision is made by the Arizona Board of Regents.

Regent Rick Meyers says Dr. Hart is a clear favorite.

"If you look at the significant, positive changes at Temple, which again is a great university that I think today is even greater because of her leadership, we'd love to see that same thing happen at Arizona."

Hart is scheduled to visit the University of Arizona early next week, with a final decision being made as early as next Friday.

She would become the first female president at the University of Arizona, a distinction she also held at Temple.
