2 Injured After Car Crashes Into Rhawnhurst Beauty Salon

By Steve Beck

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Two people were injured, one seriously, when a van smashed through the front window of a beauty salon in Northeast Philadelphia Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at about 11:30 a.m. at Angie’s Beauty Salon on Castor Avenue in the Rhawnhurst section.

According to authorities, the 65-year-old driver of a Ford Aerostar minivan meant to put the vehicle in reverse, but instead put it in drive and accelerated through the plate glass window of the shop and ended up several feet inside.

A 50-year-old patron inside the salon was injured and was taken to Aria Health Torresdale Hospital with a possible broken hip and cuts.

The driver suffered minor injuries. So far, no charges have been filed against the driver.

The incident remains under investigation.

It is very unfortunate that such incident had occurred. The victims of the crash can definitely file a personal injury case. It is unnerving to hear such cases where there are casualties due to the negligence of others.

Omg I thought it was Eva’s , near Caster and Rhawn. That’s where I go. I think that is awful. I hope the two people inside recover. Some people can’t drive and are forced to by poor mass transit.
