Local Research Shows Most People Overindulge While Watching The February 5th Game

By Lynne Adkins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On the Big Game Day in Indianapolis, it's easy to overindulge—just remember to get your diet back on track tomorrow.

The Big Game Day in Indianapolis and hoagies, wings and pizza just go together, and all of these foods can destroy a diet. Emily Rubin, a dietitian at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, says that for most people, eating too much junk food won't be a problem for one day.

"People who are diabetic, it could raise your blood sugar. If you have gastroesophageal reflux disease or heartburn, eating that much food in one day will cause discomfort," she explains.

Rubin also says that local research shows that the average person will consume 1200 calories and 50 grams of fat while watching the game and commercials. That's the amount of calories many people consume all day! So remember: Tomorrow it's back to healthy eating.
