PPL Park Holds Job Fair, 300 Part-time Jobs Available

By Jericka Duncan

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Hundreds of seasonal positions are available at PPL Park in Chester. On Saturday, officials held their first job fair since the stadium opened in 2010.

Patricia Bowers made an effort to stand out in the crowd of job seekers. The 50-year-old wore a suit and heels and went with resume in hand.

"I want a job," said Bowers. "I'm tired of being laid-off; I really do want a job."

Last year, she says she was laid-off from her job as a supervisor at the nearby Harrah's casino. Bowers, like so many others at Saturday's job fair, is looking forward to earning a paycheck again.

"We see a mix of people," said PPL Park General Manager Mike Scanlon. "Some who have full-time jobs and are looking for other income, others who are trying to find work."

The goal is to add 300 part-time positions to the roster, ranging from guest services to housekeeping, with salaries starting at $8.50 per hour.

It's not a lot of money, but it's something that could help Bowers, who hasn't given up. She's believes she's one step closer to finding that new job.
